This was done for the Metroid Database "Stylized Metroid" contest: [link] I won 3rd Place.
I chose the Bio-mechanical Surrealism style pioneered by H.R. Giger. The goal is to create an unsettling image by blending mechanical forms with organic forms in ways that look excruciatingly painful. I chose Mother Brain for this because the character embodies this style at its core.

My last contest entry ([link]) received the following brilliant line: "A monster sent to rid the galaxy of monsters even more terrible."

This is one of those monsters.

Update: Purposly removed some detail in the door, in order to make it look more like a door. Also added a 1080p download (for backgrounds).

Mother Brain's head reminds me of a Licker from Resident Evil.

I was gonna say OH GOG MB LOOKS LIKE A PREDALIEN then read the description and then went Oh daym. 0.0
So in otherwords great job, you made it look like gigers art exceptionally well, I love this piece~ Esspecially how the dead metroid baby looks kinda like a face hugger too. haha.

I actually was intending a different direction for the baby, but as long as it reads as "Metroid" and "Giger", I guess it's fine. Heh.

I was looking at this picture for like ten seconds going "Hmm, yes, this is pretty fucking impressive, very nice".
Then I noticed how the toes are shaped like skulls, and I pretty much lost my shit. My sides were in orbit.
